Jim Hollands

Born in 1938, Jim started performing at school in plays and Scout shows before singing and performing as a "Tea Chest Bass" player (the best!) in skiffle groups. He used to cart it to gigs on his back like a rucksack on his bike!

Jim graduated to the guitar as he found that the girls preferred them to bass and washboard players - but it didn't seem to make any difference. He always reckons that it must be his ears ("Call me wingnut or dumbo!!").

Jim has his own style, which he says is best described as quality rubbish! He simply plays what he likes for his own interest and fun. Jim says that he is the least musical member of his family, but his sister (bless her) thinks he does quite well. His other main hobby has always been cycling and he has ridden Lands End to John O'Groats and was a Junior champion in his younger days - about 1956 (he thinks). Jim also likes walking and camping.

Jim is an occasional MC on Singers Nights.
