John Fletcher
In 2007 John decided to learn to play a musical instrument and was advised that, as his left little finger is missing, a clarinet would be the only possibility (since then he's realised that this was actually a duff bit of advice!).
John swapped to playing a saxophone in 2008 and then to an AKAI electric wind instrument (EWI for short) in 2009.
As the sax tutor books all had CD backing tracks, he has continued to play solo and use backing tracks as accompaniment, although Patrick Shore does, on occasions, provide the backing with his guitar.
John says that he has tried to get his wife, Margaret, to have a go but instead she prefers listening - and she also enjoys the social side of the clubs that he plays at.
Although still a relative beginner, John says that he appreciates how he has been made welcome at Bingham Folk Club.
