Bingham Folk Club MCs
The Club has a rota system for MCs to allow for holidays and illness, and also to ensure the club's smooth running.
The differing personalities of each MC ensure variations from week to week in presentation and style.
The MCs are regular performers as well as being club members for many years. Dave Smith is a solo performer, singing unaccompanied. He performs a range of songs from traditional to sea shanties, and also belongs to the Stormy Weather Boys shanty group.
John plays an EWI ('electronic wind instrument') and usually performs with a backing track, although he is sometimes accompanied by other folk club regulars.
Dave Collins has been around on the local folk music scene for many years, and is a talented songwriter as well as an accomplished singer-guitarist.
We have a mixture of Singers Nights and PA Nights when anyone can perform if they want to do so (just make yourself known to the MC) as well as Guest Nights with a professional artist or group, supported by local singers. If you just want to come and listen - that's fine too! There is no membership, and admission prices are kept very low for an evening's entertainment - plus there's a bar to keep everyone happy as well!!
